What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy can help you create lasting changes in your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Have you ever considered hypnotherapy? You may not already know the changes you can make using a combination of NLP and Hypnotherapy and the outstanding results you can achieve. Hypnotherapy is a deep state of relaxation, you are in complete control over yourself and your actions whilst in a state of trance and after. Hypnotherapy is the quickest and most effective way to achieve success and is completely safe. Hypnotherapy can help you to get to the root cause of your problems and neutralise it at the base so that the habits and discomfort you have felt in the past are completely gone.
Â
Hypnosis and Hypnotherapy today, is used for coaching and therapy. Hypnotherapy was popularised during the 1960s with a hypnotherapist named Milton H. Erickson. Today many modern hypnotists use Milton Ericksons techniques, now know as Ericksonian Hypnosis. There are other methods that include, David Elman and hypnosis based on George Estabrooks.

How does hypnosis and hypnotherapy work?
Hypnosis works by recognising and making use of the unconscious part of the mind. Your unconscious mind will store an enormous amount of information, by using hypnosis we are able to access the unconscious mind and learn from past experiences without having to go through the pain. To find out more information please read the about pages (about Time Line Therapy and about NLP)

During hypnosis or hypnotherapy the client is guided into an altered state also known as a trance state. There are many stages of trance, which are detailed below:
Stages of Trance
Beta Brain-Wave State - 14cps – 30cps
This occurs in the normal awake state, conscious activity of the brain is the beta brain wave state. The beta state is a high and rapid state, it is a state of full alertness, physical activity and excitement. Emotional sensations include anger, worry, fear, anxiety, tension surprise, hunger.
A transition occurs with the onset of hypnosis. As the hypnotic subject begins to relax an alpha brain wave state is achieved.
Â
Alpha Brain-Wave State - 8 – 13cps
The alpha state is a state of beginning relaxation. The graph of the alpha state shows high frequency and low amplitude brain waves. In this state the mind is relaxed but alert. It is a state of passive awareness, composure of physical and mental relaxation.
Â
Theta Brain-Wave State - 4-8cps
The theta state is one of tranquillity, creativity and deep relaxation. Emotional sensation experienced in the theta state include restful alertness, uncertainty, daydreaming, and deep tranquillity.
Â
Delta Brain-Wave State - 0.05 –
The delta state is the brain-wave state experienced in the deepest stages of sleep. It is a state of total unawareness, of unconsciousness. There are no feelings in this state. THE DELTA BRAIN WAVE STATE IS NOT REACHED IN HYPNOSIS

Common MisconceptionsÂ
Hypnosis is often misinterpreted and perceived to be something of which it is not, and can lead to people being uncomfortable with the proposition of being hypnotised. It is therefore important to clear up any misconception's that have been installed. See below to find out what hypnosis is NOT...
- Hypnosis is not sleep and you cannot reach sleep during hypnosis.
- It is not about being gullible, it's just about following instructions.
- It is not about being controlled by someone or a loss of self control. Hypnosis is a state of heightened awareness.
- Hypnosis cannot make you do anything that is against your core beliefs and value system. If you were asked to rob a bank, you would not do it and you would not do it after hypnosis. It has been proven that you have to be brainwashed to do anything against your value and belief system.
Steps to brainwashing
- You have to have removal from your environment of influence.
- You have to have sleep deprivation
- You will be given pain if you disagree and pleasure if you agree.
- There will also need to be a change in your biochemistry. This will need drugs!
